Ekonsortium and the Chamber of Italian-Serbian Businesspeople successfully organized the expert workshop "Exporting to the EU: Maintaining Competitiveness and the Transport of Industrial Waste", which on 25 June brought together representatives of companies, institutions, and the professional community in the packed hall of the Saint Ten Hotel in Belgrade, with the aim of exchanging knowledge and practical experience in the management and transport of industrial waste in accordance with European standards.
The workshop was opened by Biljana Sirovica, Secretary General of the Chamber of Italian-Serbian Businesspeople, while Michele Rossini, Honorary President and founding visionary of Ekonsortium, addressed the participants on behalf of the co-organizer. As an international network of experts and companies, Ekonsortium has for years worked on connecting business, institutions, and experts in the fields of environmental protection, the circular economy, and sustainable waste management, promoting the exchange of knowledge and the application of European standards.
The expert part of the program was opened by Momčilo Matijašević, mechanical engineer, ADR/RID/ADN consultant, and court expert from the company DMM 2020, who spoke about the current state, challenges, and future prospects of managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste, with particular emphasis on regulatory requirements and alignment with European regulations. His lecture gave participants a practical overview of the obligations and challenges that companies face in their day-to-day operations.
A special contribution to the program was made by the event's sponsors, Itelyum Balkan and FERCAM, whose representatives Brankica Ristić and Bojan Pantić presented their companies' experiences and concrete examples of good practice in the management and transport of industrial waste. Together with Momčilo Manojlović, Director of the company Intico, they also took part in a panel discussion dedicated to optimizing waste transport processes, moderated by Dr Radman Šelmić, Advisor to the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia for the Green and Circular Economy and Digital Transformation.
The great interest of the participants, numerous questions from the audience, and an open discussion confirmed the importance of this topic for the business community and the need for expert gatherings. The panel discussion concluded with an address by H.E. Luca Gori, Ambassador of Italy in Belgrade, who highlighted the importance of international cooperation and knowledge exchange in the process of alignment with European standards.
After the official part of the program, participants continued their conversations over a networking lunch, in a pleasant and open atmosphere that enabled further connections between company representatives and the exchange of business contacts.
